Many students regard Surgical Recall as the most valuable clerkship review resource on the market. Now you can have the print and audio versions together for even more convenient study. With rapid-fire questions and answers in downloadable MP3 files, you can use these files on any digital audio playback device, and they contain all the same content as the print version of Surgical Recall, Fourth Edition.
Summary: Great Book, a must buy
Rating: 5
This book has pretty much everything you need to survive the pimp questions. It even has a section in the introduction on what to carry in your pockets, how to write a proper surgical note, and what is expected of you from the rotation.
A must have for any surgery rotation.
Summary: Surg Recall
Rating: 5
Extremely helpful for med students in surgery rotations. I did make use of the audio files that come along with the book, so I didn’t miss out on study time on a long trip I had to take one weekend. The audio bits were alright – the speakers often mispronounced medical terminology, and each file seemed to cut-out before it was actually supposed to be finished.
Other than that, this was a very good product. Med students, get this in the beginning of your rotation rather than halfway through as I did. It is much more helpful that way.
Summary: 3rd year med student
Rating: 5
I got this book as a third year med student and used it for one third year rotation and one fourth year rotation. It definitely helped with pimp questions and for a basic understanding of each operation or organ system. The book is written in question-answer format. Excellent for the wards, even many interns carry this. However, I do not recommend it as a study aid for the shelf test mainly because in some places it has too little detail, in other places, it has too much detail. It serves its purpose to acquaint med students to the wards, and to give away favorite pimp question answers eg. “What is the infundibulum of the gall bladder also called?” – “Hartmann’s pouch”.
Summary: great book
Rating: 5
although residents and attendings don’t like med students to carry this book around, it’s great! It has all the pimping answers and is great quick review before going into the OR.
